Adrian Rogers Retires From Pastoral Ministry

NRB 2003 Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Adrian Rogers, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, for 32 years, announced on September 12, 2004 his plans to retire from his pastoral ministry in the spring of 2005. Under his 32-year tenure, the church membership has grown from about 9,000 members to 29,000+. NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) President Dr. Frank Wright stated: "Few men have Adrian Rogers' gifts, passion, courage, and commitment. We rejoice that Dr. Rogers will continue in his broadcast ministry."

Dr. Rogers plans to remain in Memphis and devote his time to the radio and TV broadcasts of Love Worth Finding Ministries, to the recently established Pastor's Training Institute (a division of LWF), and to becoming an adjunct professor at Mid-America Theological Seminary in Memphis. The Love Worth Finding broadcast received the NRB Television Program of the Year Award in 1998 and the Radio Program of the Year award in 2001.

At NRB 2004 this past February in Charlotte, NC, Rogers gave what was for many an unforgettable presentation of the Gospel at the Anniversary Banquet.
Dr. Rogers also plans to pursue his growing writing ministry and is looking forward to spending more quality time with his family. He stated that “Now comes a time we all knew would come, when I should announce my retirement as pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church. Nevertheless, I will not retire from the ministry until I draw my last breath.”
