"Introduction"

Editor Doug Apple has given me the opportunity to have a monthly column in the Southern Gospetality News which will cover a variety of subjects that are related to Spiritual Warfare. This is a topic which has been close to my heart for many years and I look forward to sharing my thoughts, feelings, and inspirations. This first month I wanted to use my space to introduce myself and to tell you why I feel that God has led me to write and evangelize on this particular topic.

Most of you have heard me on the air here at WXAN for the past fifteen years or so on Sunday mornings. It is a great time of worship for me and I always enjoy sharing good worship time with our listeners.

From 1984 to 2000 I was a police officer and as such I have done extensive research into the occult; from a criminal perspective and also as a Christian. It was during my years as a police officer that I most often came face to face with people possessed by demons or at the very least influenced by them.

Once I saw just how many lives were being destroyed by the enemy I became aware that our world wasn't what it seemed to be. If we don't make ourselves aware of the spiritual warfare that permeates our world then we are operating on only a small part of the knowledge that God meant for us to have.

On January 1st, 1991 I prayed earnestly about this problem and God, that very night, told me to write a book and then gave me the skill to do so. Since that day I have written nine Christian-fiction novels and I'm working on my tenth.
I'm also writing my first non-fiction book called - “SEEK, AND YOU SHALL FIND”. Oddly enough it is a book on Spiritual Warfare and how to get the most out of our walk with the Lord.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Counseling and had my own practice until 2001. In 2000 I had my gall bladder removed, spent fourteen days in intensive care with heart problems, and developed serious diabetes (with very bad leg problems).

In 2001 I had a mild stroke which has wiped much of my early memories and makes it hard to hold on to current ones for more than forty-eight hours. And just within the last month I was hospitalized with congestive heart failure.
Now, I don't tell you this to get sympathy (however, I won't turn any down) but rather to let you know that I have extensively studied the Bible, I have lived and worked in the trenches where the demonic enemy lives and I have faced death many times; both my own and that of others and I was changed forever - but in a good way. My faith is stronger than ever and I know that there is power in the love of Jesus Christ.

In the articles that follow I will share some of my experiences with you and let you in on some of the blessings that God has shared with me on how to fight the good fight. I would like to hear from you! My e-mail address is: billeyer@yahoo.com
